At the bos meeting last night, a funding resolution for building new schools was APPROVED 7-1 ! Robbins casted the no vote. This means we will be getting new schools after a decade long fight, they finally approved it. It took consolidating into the old schools to do it, but we knew that after the board seen it was no threat, they decided to do what us right. A new school behind Union, a new school in the wise area each at 25 mil a piece, a new wing at eastside for 8.5 which will be 50k square feet so it will pretty much be a new school with the gym and cafeteria being renovated and a new gym for appy elementary for 1.5. After the process gets in full swing, it will take around 22 months to complete. Now the talks with Norton will begin and I'm completely positive they will join in thank goodness, probably at eastside which may cause that them to get more than that wing and renovations.
A question that has been asked a million times on here is whag will happen to the old trophies and stuff? Well the state and regional ones will be displayed in the new schools, the district ones and banners will be given to the towns. The individual plaquesand such will be given back to the players or their family - but there will be screens where the trophy cases will be that will show a slide show I guess you could call it that will show a pic of the plaques and their accomplishments. I believe that will be there this fall if I'm not mistaken.
This all isn't set in stone and a poor showing this November can set things back and there won't be any new schools, so its important to vote the pro's back in to ensure this isn't slowed and the anti's royally screw this county up even more.
